''' I just started mining with my MacBook Air on Honeyminer, and in 10 hours I've made about $0.21 in BTC. So, the short answer is you're not getting rich using a basic laptop setup... those days are long gone. But by doing this, we're helping secure the system, and stacking a few sats for ourselves in the interim. $0.21 is 2100 sats at a $10k BTC pricing. Honeyminer automatically decides which coin is most profitable to mine, and uses your CPU & GPU to mine them, then pays you out in BTC. It's a good system, especially for those without the wherewithal to get deep into the technicals of mining. If you wanna get started, here's my referral code. Helps us both if you use it. [link]1 I don't recommend "buying the hashrate" from them, as it's not a profitable investment at this time. In other words, you're predicted to pay more for the server time than you'll earn back over the length of the contract. That may change within the next few days or weeks, however, so keep checking back. EDIT: On the positive side, a laptop isn't going to set off any alarms for electricity usage, so no one is going to know or give a shit. Best way to start Bitcoin mining on macbook pro. Things to purchase etc...
I just started bitcoin mining today and i'm on a macbook pro 2.4GHz Intel Core i5 with 8Gb of memory and a GeForce GT 330M graphics card. I'm using BitMinter because the most popular program "asteroid" keeps crashing as I am running Yosemite and they are having problems creating an update. BitMinter is only running at a hash rate of 0.01Ghps (7000Khps). I was wondering if anyone could respond to this with the most cost efficient things to purchase to improve my ROI. Thank you all for the help.

''' Hello! Are there any cryptocurrencies that you can mine on a MacBook Pro 2009? They have to be CHEAP AS HELL and worth practically nothing to be able to mine them. I tried mining Dogecoin in a pool (they are 0.0003 of a penny or something ridiculous) but according to my computer, it would take me one year of continuous, non stop mining to find a block! Blocks (10,000 Doge) are only worth £9.89! And it would take me a year to get them! Is there any out-of-the-way, I’ve-never-heard-of-this crypto that I can mine with just the power of my laptop? Bitcoin mining rigs and systems have come a long way since the beginning. The first Bitcoin miners made do with the tools they had at their disposal and set up various software to control the mining hardware in their rigs.
